Spring Awakening is probably one of the most important dramatic texts ever written, owing to its undoubted literary value and enormous stage potential, which is why this play is continuously present at repertoires of most diverse theaters all over the world ever since the moment it was written – and it has undergone many stage adaptations in all theater genres, from drama to musical.
In the play set at the Little Theatre Du¹ko Radoviæ, directed by Anja Su¹a, this famous text was approached as a template that relates to a young audience problematizing the always present themes of sexuality, generation relations and searching for own identity. As a dramaturge on the project, we have Irena Kraus, a dramaturge of Dramaten in Stockholm, and one of the leading Swedish contemporary dramatic authors, particularly known for very successful adaptations of drama classics for the young audience, whose adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet (In the Shadows of Hamlet), performed by Young Dramaten, the Belgrade audience had the opportunity to see at the TIBA Festival in 2006.
