Vigdís Jakobsdóttir

Vigdís Jakobsdóttir has been a practicing freelance theatre director in her native country Iceland for fifteen years and has  directed several plays at the National Theatre of Iceland as well as with various independent professional theatres.

She was Head of the Education department at the National Theatre of Iceland from 2002-2010 and has initiated and managed a big national youth theatre festival called Þjóðleikur, which is currently in its third cycle.

Vigdís is currently an adjunct at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, where she teaches courses and workshops on theatre, drama pedagogy and innovative teaching methods. She is the chairperson of ASSITEJ Iceland and sits on the executive committee of ASSITEJ International.
