MOJCA HORVAT
Born in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Former gymnast, 4 times ballroom champion of Yugoslavia (Latin , standard, 2x combination) has turned to jazz, tap, ballet and musical for which she had been offered scholarship at Broadway Dance Center New York (1983, 84).
A an extremely creative and productive choreographer in performing arts and media, who has been besides her creative work, a devoted and passionate teacher for generations of dancers or dancing actors and singers.
Creates for: musical theatre (over 20 musicals for adults and over 20 for children), opera (10), film (7 feature films), television (over 300 choreographies for artistic and entertainment programs), theatre (staging and moves for over 50 straight plays), protocol (international political events, opening and closing ceremonies of sport championships, Olympic games, euro song contests….), choreography and staging for orchestras, marching bands, choruses, video spots for pop stars.
As guest teacher she has been giving master classes in Austria, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Serbia, Russia, USA and of course, Slovenia.
In 1989 she has founded her own school and company in Ljubljana.
From 1990 till 2000 has been regularly teaching in Austria and Italy.
In November 2011 she had started a school for musical in Belgrade.
Her students have been winning World and European show dance championships for over 20 years.
She has won numerous awards. She was the author of over 50 winning choreographies at World and European show dance championships. She has won the award for the Best performance for Mystery Town – Pikin Festival, 2000, Award of City of Ljubljana for internationally successful dance performances, popularization of dance amongst youngsters and spreading reputation of capital of Slovenia, 2001, Special Award for Choreography, Days of Serbian Comedy Jagodina 2009, Best performance – choreography for Chicago, Belgrade Terazije, 2006, Best performance for Grease, Štj, Ljubljana 2007. She was recognised as The Choreographer of the Year 2001, by International Dance Organization. She has also won the following awards: Best choreography 2011, ESDU organization, Special award for pedagogical and choreographic work, ESDU 2011,Best choreography World Cup ESDU 2012.
