and
Sanja Krsmanovic Tasic, a member of executive board of ASSITEJ Centre of Serbia
Unanimously awards the prize for BEST ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENT to the play ‘Story of a Family’ by Compagnia Rodisio from Italy.

Elaboration:

With minimal use of theatrical means (props, costumes, set), through a multilayered and a virtuosic actors’ performance, the play ‘Story of a Family’ allows us to create an entire world ourselves, a world in which this ‘perfect family’, self contained and in constant rush for success, loses the very life and its essence – love and true communication.

The play speaks of loneliness and alienation, omnipresent in today’s society.

It is also a warning for parents who have too high demands from their children and a warning for children who rely on their parents too much and lose their own identity and their natural sense of rebellion by striving to fulfil every one of their parents’ requirements.

This is a warning that says that self-isolation leads to becoming insensitive to others, to exclusion of others and even xenophobia.

As the creators of this production say in their programme:

‘And then we ask ourselves the question of where this love ends up. And what if we need more people, to love them, to be loved by them, would family be enough then?’

The last words said in this play were ‘It’ll turn out better next time’, which reminds us that there is no next time, because we only have one life.
